HUB-IBARAKI ART PROJECT 2024
作家決定しました！

今年のHUB-IBARAKI ART PROJECT2024において、愛知県出身・滋賀県在住の井上唯さんに決定、リサーチがスタートしました。

井上さんは、様々な土地でフィールドワークを行い、その地の自然や風土、文化、人々の生活を学び、のびやかな視点で作品を制作している美術家です。

2024年度のプロジェクトは、4月より開始、来年の作品発表に向けて約一年を通しての取り組みとなります。都市部からのアクセスが良く、住環境の良いイメージですが、茨木市の豊かな自然や、昔から地域の人々が紡いできたものをリサーチし、井上さん独自のアプローチによって地域の特性を学びながら活動していく予定です。リサーチの様子やトークイベントの情報など随時発信していきます。どうぞご期待ください。

HUB-IBARAKI ART PROJECT 2024
Artist Announced.

We are pleased to announce that Yui Inoue, originally from Aichi Prefecture and currently works and lives in Shiga Prefecture, has been selected for this year’s HUB-IBARAKI ART PROJECT 2024. The research has already started.

Yui Inoue is an artist who conducts fieldwork in various locations, learning about the nature, climate, culture, and lifestyles of the people in those areas. She creates her works with a broad perspective.

Before, we have selected artists through an open call, but for the renewed HUB-IBARAKI ART PROJECT this year, I have chosen an artist. The 2024 project will start in April and will be a year-long endeavor culminating in the presentation of the works next year. While Ibaraki City is known for its good access to urban areas and pleasant living environment, Inoue plans to research its rich natural environment and the traditions woven by local people over the years. She will be learning about the characteristics of the region through her unique approach. We will be sharing updates on the research process and information on talk events as they happen. [ HUB IBARAKI ART PROJECTにむけて ］

「街」から北へ向かって車を走らせると、高速道路やダムを挟んでいつの間にか「山」へと至る。その距離と時間の短さに驚きつつ、その間に現れた“土と木々とコンクリートが渾然一体となった風景”に目を見張った。大規模な土木工事による変化と速度が想像される一方で、これだけの自然がこの距離感で在ることに驚かされた。

近郊であること、交通のHUBであることの強みと危うさを併せ持つこの場所で、山、土壌、草木、田畑、害獣対策、竹林、里山、椿＝親交木、未来、子どもたち、学校がHUB、地域活動、祭り、奉仕、循環、水、コンクリート、高速道路、土木工事、ダム、物流倉庫、住宅地など、この土地で出会った風景や、人々の言葉や姿勢、営みを手がかりに、この先の未来に小さな種を撒くように、少しでもこの地に根を張っていくような地道な活動が出来ればと考えている。

Driving north from ”the city,” I quickly reached “the mountains,” separated only by highways and a dam. I was astonished by the short distance and time it took to get there and by the landscape that emerged along the way—where earth, trees, and concrete seamlessly blended together. While the changes and pace brought about by large-scale civil engineering projects are imaginable, I was surprised by the proximity of such natural beauty.

This place combines the strengths and vulnerabilities of being a suburb and a transportation hub. Using the landscapes I encountered here, along with the words, attitudes, and activities of the people, I aim to connect with the mountains, soil, vegetation, fields, wildlife control, bamboo groves, satoyama, camellias, the future, children, school as a hub, community activities, festivals, service, cycles, water, concrete, highways, civil engineering projects, dam, logistics warehouses, and residential areas. I hope to engage in steady activities that, like planting tiny seeds for the future, will help me take root in this land, drawing inspiration from the landscapes I encounter, the words and attitudes of the people, and their daily lives.
